Helen Cole is the Artistic Director of the internationally renowned In Between Time based in Bristol, UK. Helen began as a producer in Manchester, developing interdisciplinary projects in car parks, disused warehouses and unusual locations. She was Senior Producer at Tramway, Glasgow and Producer of Live Art and Dance at Arnolfini, Bristol where she established one of the most influential contemporary performance programs in the UK. Helen mentors artists and emerging producers, works as a writer and curator and sits on symposia, commissioning and selection panels. She is the artist/curator of the live memory project, We See Fireworks, commissioned by SPILL Festival and now touring the UK and internationally. We See Fireworks is a large-scale installation made from hundreds of voices sharing funny, haunting and vivid stories of incredible performances gathered from all over the world.

What’s so exhilarating about making one-on-one and participatory performance? Why does an audience of one fill us with fear and excitement in equal measures and what are some of the strategies and processes for making this artform? Find out at this three-day intensive led by Helen Cole, pvi collective and Proximity Festival.

Suitable for: performance makers, artists, students (18+) from all disciplines interested in live-art and participatory practice.

Session 2 – Dear city, together we will imagine
Tuesday 20 October
Producers, curators, directors: how do you create the conditions for impossible projects to happen? Using detailed case studies from Helen’s career, this session will focus on how to find the right team and partners, and empower them to share in your goal. Let’s find collective ways to courageously weather an uncertain future and make radical ideas real.

Suitable for: emerging to established producers, curators, artists, artistic directors, community arts workers.
