Get excited – we’ve selected our artists for the third annual Proximity Festival!

This year we invite you to breathe air from different ages on Earth, undertake a humorous sculpture workshop on anatomy, cut loose in a 60 second twerk and climb rooftops in search of love.

Taking place at Fremantle Arts Centre from Wednesday 22 October – Saturday 1 November, the 2014 program will bring together artists from the United Kingdom, United States, Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia to create twelve unique intimate experiences for one audience member at a time.

Curated by Kelli Mccluskey and Sarah Rowbottam, Proximity Festival features new one-on-one performances by: James Berlyn (WA), Caroline Garcia (NSW), Jen Jamieson (WA), Cat Jones (NSW), Loren Kronemyer (USA), Tanya Lee (WA), Emily Parsons-Lord (WA), Sylvia Rimat (UK), Hallie Shellam (VIC), Ian Sinclair (WA), Alina Tang (WA) and Toyi-Toyi Theatre (WA).

“Each year Proximity Festival grows stronger with a national contingent of artists pushing themselves and the audience to question social politics of the body, our relationship to the environment, authority, and one another.” Rowbottam said.

Audience members will each start in a different space at Fremantle Arts Centre and navigate their way around the former asylum and military base at night, encountering a series of 12 minute personalised experiences.

The full program and tickets will be released in August. In the meantime you can read about our artists here.

We can’t wait to show you Proximity Festival 2014!
